Today (in this term of my life), I feel that I truly understand these lyrics. I had never liked this, already set, system of dogmas and blinkers; but now it's a whole new dimension.
The fact that no politician, no country and no religion means anything; EVEN IF IT SEEMS DIFFERENT IN THEORY, but it becomes worthless practically and how low people can be have been revealed to me so widely now that I'm dazed.
Of the countless possible examples, I think we witness the best nowadays: Global warming and the ecological downfall of Earth. She is going down and people are still after, I'm sorry, shit.
Not a politican says: "Friends, our countries' soil, neighbors and even the world that we are in is becoming useless; there will be no room to live, no time to continue our existence, so come on and let's put aside these stuff we deal with and gather up to work this out."
Not a "religious" "leader" says: "Brothers, this holy heaven that God/Gods/The existence/Nature/etc. blessed us with is going to be worse than hell, we are damaging each other and the boon given. Let us drop the disagreements with each other, don't we all wish to create a better life and world anyway? Let us deal with this.."
Not a "nationalist" says: "My fellow countrymen, we are destroying this ground that our ancestors died for with our own hands, we are spitting and putting off our cigarettes on this very soil that holds our history. Let us forget about these blood bounds and for our respect for our sires and love for our coming generations, if for nothing, let us work on this."
Oh, no. None of them tells this. The politician is after votes, giving promises.. Religions are busy blaming each other.. The so-called nationalists, whom are not really aware of their "blood" are no use but swearing at and killing each other.
These dualities have gone so far that even two sexes are far from each other. They are trying to use each other and try to break down the opposite and sometimes their own sex in the sake of "saving themselves from being broken down".
We need to put aside these dualities now. We must throw away the "this leader that leader"
, "my language doesn't include such word as blabla, we shall us mlumlu instead!" view, "they are heathens, ... them!" , "my blood is pure and only those of my blood are my allies!" talk. The Global Warming and Desecration of Nature is the last sign for us. We can take this as a blessing, regret what we have done so far and pick a different road. Or we can doom ourselves. Which is easier, here is some of what I can do:
"It's the women cosmetics!", "only if USA war endustry didn't exist!", "our faith isn't actually like this!", "blablablamlumlumlu!"
But these can go just so far, resulting that the famous American Indian saying to come to happen.. We will have hunted the last fish, polluted the last water and cut down the last tree.. I wonder, even when that day comes, how long we'll strive to keep on with power and money, religion and politics..
